]]>The standard presets on a JV1080 & JV2080 are obviously not made for sound designers or techno producers but just for keyboardists and hobbyists who need lifeless acoustic interpretations. I always had to dig deep and long to get quality sounds out of existing preset libraries, I decided to change that by programming two preset libraries for it. The Bioluminescence soundset is the second preset library after the well received Interstellar Soundset.
Note: This soundbank is working on both the Roland Cloud VST version and it’s compatible with all Roland JV models (JV-1010, JV-1080, JV-2080, XP-30, XP-50, XP-60, XP-80, XV-88, XV-2020, XV-3080, XV-5050, XV-5080)
About: The Bioluminescence phenomena formed the basis of inspiration when crafting this lush, deep and sophisticated soundset for the JV1080. You sign up for a nautical sound exploration into harsh oceanic conditions. Are you ready to take the Challenger Deep for a dive to the continental-shelf? Destination: the Mariana Trench, below the photic zone you’ll explore a dark abyss inhabited by luminescent lifeforms. Conditions are harsh, the pressure is high and threats from scavengers are omnipresent. The only light emissions will come from deep sea organisms. Can you withstand the cold temperatures and high pressure? Plan your aquatic journey carefully and avoid a nitrogen narcosis. I hope we meet again at the surface.
Whats in there?
128 custom JV1080 presets including: Glassy Aquatic Pads / Ethereal Esoteric Pads / Organic Percussion / Evolving textures / Modulating Effects / Crispy Sound Effects / Bass sounds / Chords / Leads
Art & Trailer production: Boris Bunnik
NOTE: This is not an official Roland product, it’s a custom artist soundbank. Logo and brandnames are only used for reference.

How do you use your studio?
My studio is firstly a fun place and a creative space. I see it as a semi-modular environment that I can change according to my creative interests and obsession for music and sound design. I use it mainly for my own work but also for commercial work – mostly sound design in the widest sense of the word. The space is very tiny; collaborations inside my studio are impossible unless I get rid of my chair.
Here, I record my albums, EPs and remixes, as well as programming most of my sound libraries.
Tell us more about the studio!
I’m Rotterdam-based and live next to the Meuse river looking over the most modern and old parts of the city. It’s a very beautiful part of the harbour city. I have a view on the classic bridges and modern bridges – all bridges represent a different era, it’s quite interesting. We’re surrounded by water here. Ever since moving together with my partner, I had to rebuild my studio in a space that was a third the size of my original studio space. It feels like now I’m trapped in a tiny mainframe computer space! I have used this space now for almost 2 years.

Important!
Note: This soundbank is now working on both the Roland Cloud VST version and the Hardware unit!
It’s compatible with all Roland JV models (JV-1010, JV-1080, JV-2080, XP-30, XP-50, XP-60, XP-80, XV-88, XV-2020, XV-3080, XV-5050, XV-5080)
About: First I got a JD800 but also curiously bought a cheap second hand Roland JV1080 from eBay without the expansions. Hearing the standard patches made me cry instantly.. I thought at first this was just a boring preset machine but later started programming my own sounds with an old editor that often didn’t work on my mac. I found that the JV has a very round and lush character and makes the most beautiful strings, pads, ethereal airy ambient sounds one could wish for. Getting a Roland JV1080 is a no brainer if you can find them second hand for 250 bucks..
The JV1080 has now become my ‘go to’ machine for pads and strings and it was about time someone would make an upgraded sound library for this century (2020 here we are). This soundbank doesn’t aim to emulate anything! No analog emulations or vintage esque interpretations.. It’s the JV in full force! Pads, ambience and weird stuff. The amazing thing is that this preset library only uses internal waveforms and it’s compatible with most JV models like the 2080 and XV’s etc. This soundbank is perfect for movie, space and underwater stuff or anything lush or atmospheric.
Lately it has been ported to the Roland VST Cloud version of the JV1080 so you get both the preset files when buying.
What do you get? 128 presets including:
– Spacious Pads
– Ethereal/airy Pads
– Aquatic Pads
– Organic bell sounds
– Evolving textures
– Voicepads
– Modulating Effects
IMPORTANT: The patches don’t require you to buy any expansions for your JV synthesizer, it’s based on internal waveforms. All music in this demo is copyrighted and it’s purpose is to present the quality of the presets.
